About

Worlds longest Drawing

The longest drawing by an individual is 3294.278 m (10 808 feet) long and was achieved by Artist Gurmej Singh AKA Artist Singh  in Kalamazoo Michigan at Artist SinGh gallery on July 20, 2014.

The challenge was part of Artist SinGh’s message and campaign to “practice safe sex” because you don't want to get hurt and live rest of your life in pain.....

2.04 miles long drawing presents itself as a guide to a virtuous and gracious living that discusses the nature of love, and other aspects pertaining to pleasure oriented faculties of human life.
It took Artist SinGh 22 days to complete the worlds longest painting that was 18 inches wide. The area of the drawing was estimated to be 1 506.1439 m2   (square meters)
The record was achieved at the same event and day as the record for world’s largest cardboard sculpture by Artist Singh.

Last year I made the worlds longest painting. The success of that project made me even more ambitious. I am making the worlds longest drawing about two mile long.  It is an official attempt for a worlds records category: Worlds longest Drawing by single artist. I am competing in the following record books:
  1. Unique worlds records
  2. Miracle world records
  3. Book of Alternative Records
  4. RecordSetter

My message:

I believe no large project like this one should go without a message. Last  year my message was to promote the  upliftment of  women in the world.
So this time it is an advice via my drawing "Kama Sutra"--I am  stressing the fact of the importance of protecting yourself so that you don't have to live in fear of getting hurt , or suffer in pain later. This is one time life right??  So please use condoms, become aware on sexually transmitted  diseases and practice safe sex.

Title: "Kama Sutra"-- A drawing on love.

This 2 miles long drawing presents itself as a guide to a virtuous and gracious living that discusses the nature of love, and other aspects pertaining to pleasure oriented faculties of human life.

For ancient Hindus, sexual pleasure was not remotely taboo - in fact, it was considered one of the four main goals of life. The drawing is about “Kāma” often translated from Sanskrit as sexual desire, sexual pleasure, sensual gratification, sexual fulfillment, or eros, but can more broadly mean desire, wish, passion, longing, pleasure of the senses, the aesthetic enjoyment of life, affection, or love, without sexual connotations. It is believed Kama is the primary energy controlling it can lead to higher realization , these views have existed since antiquity.

The painting  has 8500 depictions of people shown in sensual and sexual  pleasure  poses, covering many many aspect of human life.  the painting is distributed in over  8500 section. Each section is direct a result of live models posing for this work.

The contents of the painting are structured into seven parts of Kama Sutra and rest from my research of other sources:

1. General remarks aims and priorities of life, the acquisition of knowledge, conduct of the well-bred townsman, reflections on intermediaries who assist the lover in his enterprises.

2. Amorous advances/Sexual union

3. Acquiring a wife: on forms of marriage, relaxing the girl, obtaining the girl, managing alone, union by marriage.

4. Duties and privileges of the wife: on conduct of the only wife and conduct of the chief wife and other wives.

5. Other men's wives: on behavior of woman and man, how to get acquainted, examination of sentiments, the task of go-between, the king's pleasures, behavior in the women's quarters.

6.About courtesans: on advice of the assistants on the choice of lovers, looking for a steady lover, ways of making money, renewing friendship with a former lover, occasional profits, profits and losses.
